Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What happens after 20mins?
A: The chat automatically closes.
Q2: Why is it that after 2 chats as a User, I am unable to chat anymore?
A: Every User is given up to only 2 chats per day.
Q3: Why did I get kicked out of my chat?
A: Both parties not responding by a 5 min mark, or either party accidentally exited the chat. Possibly, one party excessively swipes out of the chat to check other Apps (On SomethingNew, we advocate concurrency and immediacy to emphasize the value of the “here-and-now” aspect).
Q4: How does the appointment system work?
A: Accepted appointments have a 3-minute waiting room. Expired appointment (will disappear after 5 mins) scenarios: Accepted but either party doesn’t turn up OR Non-Accepted appointments. As a User, do note that setting an appointment would mean that you would be unable to request immediate chats. As a Practitioner, do note that you are only allowed to accept 1 appointment at 1 time. However, Practitioners are able to accept as many chat requests (up to one’s bandwidth).
Q5: Can the other party see my particulars?
A: No. Users are only able to observe the Practitioner’s nickname, certification & organization. The Practitioner is only able to observe the User’s gender, age scale & nickname.
Q6: Why are my trophies not tallied with my number of chats?
A: Your trophies only showcase/calculate your Top 3 issues that you have been texting about.
Q7: Why does my info page say “data not found”?
A: You have not yet clocked in your first chat.
Q8: Why do my messages disappear during a chat whenever I press ‘enter’, and why do I have to re-type?”
A: Make sure to check your phone connection. Ensure that your network is stable. Most of the time, this error occurs when either party (Prac or User) is chatting outside, and their phone is automatically connecting to different networks (i.e: Public Wifi, nearby networks, etc). This is also subjective for different phone models. It is best recommended to use SomethingNew within a chat by making sure that there is no connection problem (i.e: make sure 1 network is on at only 1 time). We apologize for this inconvenience at times because charity projects such as these will take a little more time to upgrade through funding.
